The report cards of the 2020 MotoGP World Championship

World championship finished. Hopeful looks, full of expectations (and also restless…) look at 2021, which for MotoGP riders has already arrived. Cravings for revenge, expectations of glory, search for confirmations, new or old colors to show off on the suit, new or known faces inside the box, a new brand to ride or the one to which eternal fidelity has been sworn, the jump in the maximum category (tiptoe or as world champion): all this will come (it has already arrived), but it will be a new season.

Presuching that judging these exceptional guys is a game and that admiration for what they can do is an essential point, let’s start playing and give the votes to their 2020, scrolling from below the final ranking.

The 2020 MotoGp report cards

Lorenzo SAVADORI – Wikipedia He arrived following a different competitive path than his colleagues, a road perhaps more uphill, then playing only the end of the championship. Little to judge him, but we give him 5 and we wait for him.

Iker LECUONA Excluding Kallio, he was the least effective rider riding a KTM: the vote is 4

Stefan BRADL – The events of Marc Marquez catapulted a rider at the end of his career to support a role in which – at times – he managed to be dignified. We’d like to give him more, but he had the Honda World Champion: 4

Cal CRUTCHLOW Honor of arms to an old-school rider who was opposed by the bad man, he was always a great fighter and we like this: 6

Aleix ESPARGARO He was sensitive to the improvements of his bike, capturing the possible result when the opportunity presented itself, in the race and in practice: 5 of encouragement

Francesco BAGNAIA – At one point he had deluded us, returning to shape even after the injury suffered, but then he disappeared. His season cannot be considered positive, but we believe in it and give him a stern 4, reproachful, because he shakes

Johann ZARCO – A fast rider, with a personality from other times: Zarco is not a “plastic” rider. It would have been nice – a guy like him – to see him fight in a league in the late seventies. We like it, even if it often pays its own irreverence: 7

Andrea DOVIZIOSO – A husband with a wife in the role of separated in the house: he floated almost to the last in the upper echelons of the ranking as if for a mocking game of agony. He experienced an absurd situation, rode a motorcycle with glass shavings on the saddle, but proved to be a level professional: 7

Alex RINS He could also have been him instead of his teammate. He won before him, he was also steady, but not enough. In the end, the attack on the vice-champion title failed: vote 6

Joan MIR As a revelation of the season we would have exalted him unreservedly, but that he won the title of World Champion… that seems to us to be a little too much. It is the reference face to define the exciting, unusual, but still mediocre season that we have witnessed: 7 because those who, in the end, have the most points win

And then… Marc MARQUEZ Once out of the game, it was more his shadow that won over the championship. He thought he was invincible believing he could still run acciacciato, the vote is 4 for the arrogance
